LAND ROVER CLASSIC: ICONS OFF-ROAD​

For any Land Rover enthusiast, the Land Rover Classic: Icons Off-Road experience is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to sample some legendary vehicles at Land Rover Experience, Solihull and explore the incredible Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works. ​

Classic Works is home to the detail-focussed technicians and talented craftspeople who keep the Land Rover brand’s history alive with passion and incredible attention to detail. Arriving at Classic Works in the morning, you’ll be treated to breakfast before heading on a guided tour of the facility to see some of the most iconic vehicles in automotive history up close in the Classic Collection. Following your tour, you’ll be chauffeured in one of a selection of new Land Rover product to Land Rover Experience, Solihull. ​

​The site was originally developed by the British government in 1937 in anticipation of the Second World War, going on to produce the air- cooled radial engines for the Short Stirling heavy bomber used by the RAF. Operated by the Rover Company, car assembly started in 1945, with the very first Land Rovers being built on site in 1948.​

After a complimentary lunch, your driving experience will begin. You’ll have the opportunity to explore vehicles such as Series vehicles, Range Rover Vogue, Discovery G4,  Classic Defender 110 and a Classic Defender Works V8, adventuring on specially curated off-road courses while being guided by an expert driving instructor. These courses have historic roots themselves, having been designed by Maurice Wilks, creator of the original Land Rover, and one of the early Land Rover test engineers, Alec Joyce. The duo’s test routes around the factory included a wooded area called Billsmore Woods, known as ‘Joyce’s Jungle’, later renamed the ‘Jungle Track’. With a number of different obstacles and terrain types, the area has been used for decades to test the off-road capabilities of JLR vehicles.

Returning to Classic in a JLR vehicle convoy, this is an exciting opportunity for any Land Rover devotee, receiving an exclusive behind-the- scenes look at two JLR facilities and getting behind the wheel of a number of celebrated vehicles.​
